Retelling Our Star Books!

One of our students, A, retold the story : Caps For Sale.  One of the pre-reading skills is to be able to listen to a story and retell it by using details and vocabulary.  "A" did a great job sequencing the story, using dialogue and story vocabulary, and read with expression.

Our Trip To The Garden

We planted corn seeds in the garden. We are looking forward to our weekly visits to watch the corn grow!

Math & Science Fun!

In Science, we have been learning about : What is a scientist?  What tools do they use? and, Who is a scientist? We discussed and drew what is a scientist, explored scientific tools and will begin a new unit on The Five Senses.  Be sure to look at your child's science journal at Open House.
In Math, we are working on calendar skills, number sense, and number recognition.  The class enjoyed sorting buttons into three groups by size, color, and shape.  Students were encouraged to the see which group had the most and least amount.

Our First Week Of Kindergarten

We had a SUPER first week of Kindergarten!  Our class has 18 girls and 21 boys.  This week, we had our first assembly with "The Bug Chef", a fire drill, flag raising, and art with Mrs. Snead.  We also practiced rituals and routines of the classroom, made a Class Promise, listened to read-alouds, and much much more! Please continue to look for more "sweet" updates.

Push & Pull!!!

Each group had a tray with different objects on it.  They were asked to find the similarities and differences with these objects.

We sorted our objects into three groups: things that can be pushed, things that can be pulled, and things that can be pushed and pulled.

After discussing our findings, the next day we created a Venn Diagram to sort the objects into: Push and Pull.

Final result!!!

Our Venn Diagram before we sorted the objects.

Pow Wow

R enjoyed making art work with fruit and berries!

J and L loved painting with fruit, especially the blueberries!

We were starving after our Pow Wow ceremony!  Dancing like Sioux Native Americans is  hard work!

Mr. Dygan was awesome!

We got to taste yummy food.....dried fruit, popcorn, corn muffins, beef jerkey, and apples!

We loved listening to Mrs. KK tell a story in the tepee.

Cheese!!!!

We liked writing our Native Americans symbols on "bear skin."
